We're thrilled to finally launch our VERY FIRST Adopt a Beluga program... where YOU will become a unique critically endangered Cook Inlet beluga in our pod!

The current population estimate for Cook Inlet belugas in Alaska is 331 individuals as of 2022. Each symbolic Adopt a Beluga bundle includes:

  • One white (adult) or gray (youth/baby) "smiling beluga" ballcap exclusive ONLY to Adopt a Beluga pod members with a uniquely assigned individual no. (e.g. 1 out of 331).

  • The ability to symbolically name your beluga and see it listed as one of the 331 estimated total Cook Inlet belugas on our website (link coming soon!).

  • Official certificate of adoption with your beluga's chosen name, number, a photo and symbolic life history with migration pattern/seasonal tracking details.

  • Large BWA circular logo sticker (3 inches).

Only 331 total available! Adoptions are $49 each (Alaska is the 49th U.S. state!) plus USPS First Class/Priority domestic shipping and handling. International shipping options are available at checkout. Adoptions will close once the current population amount is reached. 210 left as of November 10, 2024.

All adoption bundles began shipping on Oct. 15, 2024 in order received. After this date, please allow approx. 2-3 weeks (possibly longer, please be patient with our tiny team!) for delivery and the addition of your beluga to our website.

*Please note: Hat color corresponds to beluga age. If you would like to adopt an adult beluga, please choose a white hat. If you would like to adopt a youth/baby beluga, please choose a gray hat. All hats are currently adult snapback trucker-style and one size fits most. While your adoption supports and is based on real and wild belugas, it is a symbolic adoption only and does not guarantee the naming or tracking of specific individual Cook Inlet belugas identified and monitored through federally-funded projects. Your adoption is a one-time purchase that is valid until the next Cook Inlet population estimate is expected to be released in January 2026.
